"How we turned the sounds and noises of a trade show environment into a piece of music."

TASCAM is the professional audio division of the TEAC Corporation, headquartered in Santa Fe Springs, California. TASCAM has been an early innovator in field recording and audio accompaniment to video with its DR series recording platforms. TASCAM celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2021.

The client was looking for an idea to combine the planned trade show appearance with a creative product presentation and generate social media content from it. The production of an aftermovie is usually booked to capture the most exciting impressions of the show. Since TASCAM is the leading manufacturer of field recorders, it was obvious for us to use this device to transform the acoustics of the environment into music. Our artist walked around the area and recorded sounds. They include the sounds of an escalator, the clacking of the door in the entrance portal, and the unpacking of the boxes in which the exhibition objects were to be found. An inspiring sound collage was produced from all these acoustic signatures and used as background music for the film. Thus the viewer gets insights into the location and learns how the product can be creatively used in practice.

The film was well received on social media and TASCAM killed two birds with one stone with this project.
