The RTL Group is a leading entertainment company across broadcast, streaming, content, and digital with interests in 56 television channels, eight streaming services, and 36 radio stations. TOGGO is a Children's program broadcast by Super RTL since 2001 for six to thirteen year olds.
To expand the range of online games on the TOGGO Internet platform we firstly developed a concept for a music app. This enables children to play music immediately without musical knowledge. Additionally, the multiplayer mode offers the possibility to play in groups which leads to a unique social activity full of strong emotions. The main focus of this digital tool was to clearly relate to the TOGGO brand with all its diversity.
Our idea was to use various audiovisual elements from the popular children's TV show Angelo for this. We sampled the title melody and excerpts from commercials and voice snippets of the series characters and produced a track from the samples. We linked the samples to the graphics of the comic and designed a user interface. The user can create tracks from it simply by swiping the touchpad. Errors in timing are prevented by the software controlled quantization.
In the second preset of the app we also linked the RTL logo to parts of the sound logo to create a digital musical instrument. Especially at trade shows this playful tool offers an interesting customer touchpoint to let RTL's new sound identity come to life.
